Last Modified: I recently purchased a new Surface Pro with Windows It connects to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet. When I am not travelling with it I leave it on my desk, connected through the Surface Hub device, to the internet via ethernet.
Intermittently but only after some idle time the ethernet connection drops and I am then WiFi connected. I have to reboot the device to restore the internet connection. My goal is that ethernet connection will be the active one, unless it is unplugged of course, in which WiFi connects fine and seems stable. I have uninstalled, then reinstallled, the Surface Ethernet through the Device Manager and I have checked all connecting cables.
No problems there. I don't know what else is required or if that is the problem. I thought there might be some kind of Power setting impacting this but I don't see one if that is the case. Start Free Trial.

I would check to make sure the ethernet port is not being shut down completely by the Power Management system. Go to device manager, right click on your network adapter and open properties. Author Commented: There is no Power Management tab for the driver.
